Steps

  1. Tip one corner of the load to feel its weight, and split it or ask for help if it is too much.
  2. Clear the path and open doors before you pick it up.
  3. Stand close, with the load between your feet and your feet about hip width apart.
  4. Push your hips back and bend your knees until you can grip the bottom corners firmly.
  5. Brace your stomach and stand by pushing through your legs, keeping your back long.
  6. Hold the load against your stomach, not out at arm's length.
  7. Turn by stepping your feet around, and set it down by reversing the lift.
