Steps

  1. For one day, notice every time you say sorry and write down why.
  2. Sort them: real mistakes, and reflexive sorries for existing, asking or taking space.
  3. Swap reflexive ones: thank you for your patience, I have a question, excuse me.
  4. Remove sorry from emails where it does not belong; reread before sending.
  5. For a real mistake, say it once: I missed the deadline, and that held you up.
  6. Say what you will do: I will have it to you by noon.
  7. Then stop apologizing and do it.
