Steps

  1. Open your phone's location sharing settings and read the list of people who can see you.
  2. Open location permissions and set each app to never or while using, not always, unless it truly needs it.
  3. Open each social and messaging app and check its map or friends' location feature.
  4. Check family plans, shared cloud accounts, car apps and fitness apps for location sharing.
  5. Look for devices signed in to your cloud account that you do not recognize.
  6. Remove shares you no longer want, unless doing so could put you at risk; if so, plan with a hotline first.
  7. Put a reminder in your calendar to repeat the check every three months.
